Q1) What were some of the reasons cited in the article why there was a need to have parking lots for women only in these buildings?

The first reason would be the parking lots are located near the entrance of the building.Hence it would be more convenient as they would not need to travel such a long distance. It would be even more tiring if they wore heels. They only have to walk up the ramp to reach the entrance to the lobby.Another reason is that women feel safer parking nearer to the entrance.

Q2) In your opinion, do you think it is necessary to allocate parking lots for women only? Why?

a) I think it not necessary to allocate parking lots for women only as it would be unfair to other people. Why must they be given special rights just because they are women? Since most of the drivers in Singapore are men, what if during peak hours, when the other car lots are full and the reserved lots for women are empty, isnt that making it difficult for other people like men to find a lot to park their car? Also, there may be other people who may need these lots too, like the disabled, the families and elderly.

b)Which group of people do you then feel should be allocated such priority parking? Explain.I think the group of people who should be allocated such priority parking would be pragnant ladies, families with small children/babies , handicapped people and those whose family has elderly people. For pregnant ladies, they would not need to tire themself by walking so far as they are carrying two lives.Since the priority parking lots are larger than the normal ones, for families with small children/ babies they would need a larger space to take their prams out.The handicapped people also need this lots as it would be difficult for them to push their wheelchair a long distance throughout the carparks to the lobbies and also they need a bigger space. This would surely take a long time and most importantly, they have to make sure if there is any vehicles coming in their way at the same time when they are pushing it.Accidents may happen.Last but not least, thr elderly would take a long time to walk because of their weak legs dues to osteoporosis. They tend to walk slower than normal people do, and is inconvenient for them to travel so long wasting so much time.

Q1)
What project was launched to help single mums?
Briefly explain what is this project about.

This project is called " WeCare for U".It is to help single mothers who are likely to face a tough time in the current downturn, to get help in finding a job. It reaches help to divorcees, widows and other single mothers who not only have a tougher time juggling work and family but find it hard to get help.It allows them to be able to join support groups that arrange activities for them and their children in these trying times.Apart from helping those out of work to find jobs, NTUC's Women's Development Secretariat (WDS) will encourage those who cannot go out to work to make use of other skills, such as baking or sewing, so as to help themselves to generate an income. This is because they lack of steady source of income which is one of the greatest difficulties experience for the single mums. Also, the WDS is working with the Law Society of Singapore to produce a comprehensive guidebook for single mothers to teach them how and where to find legal help.

Q2) Imagine you come across a single mum who is unemployed, what are some advice you can give her? Who can she turn to?

Being a single mum is not easy as one must take the role of a father and mother. They have to work and at the same time, take care of their children without the support from their husbands. They are the only sole breadwinner. If i meet a single mum who is unemployed, i would try to find various supporting organisations/ groups that help them in finding them a suitable job with a pay that is manageable to support the family and also some emotional support to prevent her from being stress. Also, i would encourage her and tell her that she is not alone, and there is always people around you to help. This is to ensure that she carries an important role in her family and therefore can make her less likely to give up boosting her confidence level. I would also suggest her to comfront her family about her problems encountered as they are the closest kin with her. They will understand her better than anyone else does.

We also have to meet the expectations of our parents thus we push ourselves harder and ended up being stress.Olvl is approaching in 1 more year time and most of the students are feeling anxious and nervous about whether they are going to do badly thus some of them may study or revise for a lot of hours and even burn midnight oil not getting enough sleep to ensure they are keeping up with the standards of education.Last but not least, some of the students may have family problems.etc finacial difficulties, parents divorced. Therefore, with all this things into consideration..i felt that it is stress being a student in Singapore.

The first reason would be that the students might not be able to cope with school's work .Some of them are shy and dare not to consult the teachers for clarifications. The teachers may be also busy and might not be able to help .They felt that tuition would help them improve and score higher marks for their examinations.Tuition classes would help them catch up on school lessons.Another reason would be that they would be worried that their standard would drop. They want to mantain keeping good grades all the time and thus they felt tuition is necessary.

I believe that tuition is definetly necessary for me.I am a person who has very little confidence.I believe that tuition would help me boost my standard. They may provide more relevant and more detailed notes that the school might not be able to give. This would help me for my o'lvl examination. The classes are also not as big as those in school therefore the teacher would give more attention on us and we could clarify our questions easily.I would only go for tuitions that are really beneficial for me.Tuition could also allow me to learn a new topic before the school teacher starts teaching. This allow me to grasp the concepts readily. With tuition i am able to score good results or even mantain them in my secondary school life.My brother attended the same tuition i am in now and scored 7 points for olvl.He claimed that tuition has really helped him a lot and he might not be able to score A1 for the subjects he went without tuition..
